Fiji is an outdoor paradise - world-class diving and snorkeling (Great Astrolabe Reef, Beqa Lagoon shark dive), surfing at Cloudbreak and Natadola Beach, island hopping through the Mamanuca and Yasawa chains, hiking in Colo-i-Suva Forest Park, kayaking, zip-lining, game fishing, and sailing. The warm climate means outdoor activities are available year-round, though the dry season (May–October) offers the best conditions.

Social life revolves around kava sessions (the cornerstone of Fijian culture), beach clubs and waterfront bars, sports clubs (Royal Suva Yacht Club, golf clubs), and expat groups (Fiji Expats Facebook group, International Women's Club). Rugby matches are major social events. Festivals like Fiji Day, Diwali, and the Hibiscus Festival bring communities together. The tight-knit expat community means newcomers are typically welcomed and included quickly.

Fiji is world-class for both - it's known as the 'Soft Coral Capital of the World.' The Great Astrolabe Reef, Beqa Lagoon (famous for shark diving), and Rainbow Reef in Taveuni are bucket-list destinations. Over 1,000 dive sites range from beginner-friendly to advanced drift dives. Snorkeling is excellent directly from many beaches in the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands. PADI courses are widely available from FJD 800–1,500.

Gyms are available in Suva (Body Zone, Absolute Fitness) and Nadi (Denarau resort facilities) for FJD 80–200/month. However, most expats find their fitness through the natural environment - ocean swimming in 26–29°C water, hiking, kayaking, surfing, and cycling. Yoga classes are available at studios and resorts. The warm climate and outdoor lifestyle mean many expats become more active than they were at home.

Absolutely - sports clubs are a major part of social life. The Royal Suva Yacht Club offers sailing, a swimming pool, and regular social events. Golf is available at the Fiji Golf Club (Suva) and Denarau Golf and Racquet Club (Nadi). Rugby clubs welcome enthusiastic supporters (and players). Tennis, netball, and swimming clubs operate in both Suva and Nadi. Membership fees are very reasonable by Western standards - typically FJD 200–1,000/year.
