International Schools
Suva is home to several international schools serving the diplomatic and expat community. Options are more limited in Nadi, though the growing expat population is driving expansion.
- International School Suva (ISS): the premier international school — IB curriculum, pre-K through Year 13, accredited; popular with embassy and NGO families
- Suva Grammar School: established school with a British-influenced curriculum; affordable alternative to ISS
- Nadi area: limited international school options — some families commute or use Nadi-based private schools
- Annual fees: FJD 10,000–25,000 ($4,400–$11,000 USD) for international schools; local private schools from FJD 2,000–5,000
- Class sizes: typically 15–25 students in international schools — smaller than most Western schools
- English is the primary language of instruction at all international schools — no language barrier for Anglophone children
- Waitlists can apply at top schools — apply 6–12 months before arrival; mid-year entry sometimes possible
- Extracurricular activities: sports (rugby, swimming, netball), music, drama, and community service programs
