Tunisia has a more relaxed attitude toward nightlife than most Arab countries. La Marsa, Gammarth, and the Zone Touristique in Sousse have bars, restaurants, and clubs. Alcohol is widely available. During summer, beach clubs and open-air venues are popular. Hammamet is the nightlife capital.

Typical expat weekends include brunch in La Marsa, beach time, exploring ancient ruins, day trips to Sidi Bou Said or Cap Bon, hiking in the north, or desert excursions to the south. The country's compact size means most attractions are within a 2–4 hour drive from Tunis.
