If you're employed legally in Estonia, you're automatically enrolled in EHIF - your employer pays the 13% social tax. If you're on the Digital Nomad Visa or self-employed, you can pay voluntary EHIF contributions (€170/month) or use private clinics/international insurance until you qualify.

For EHIF-enrolled residents, most services are covered with small co-payments (€5 at GP). Emergency care is always free. Dental care for adults and most optical care are not covered and must be paid privately.
