Public Healthcare System
The Seychelles government provides free healthcare to all residents — citizens and legal residents alike — through a network of public facilities. The Ministry of Health oversees the system, which includes the main Seychelles Hospital in Victoria (Mahé), smaller hospitals on Praslin and La Digue, and health centres across inhabited islands. Primary care, emergency treatment, and basic specialist services are available at no cost.
- Free healthcare for all legal residents — no insurance required for public system
- Seychelles Hospital (Victoria): main facility with emergency, surgery, maternity, and specialist departments
- Praslin Hospital: smaller facility for non-critical care; complex cases transferred to Mahé
- La Digue Hospital: basic facility — mostly outpatient care and stabilisation before transfer
- Health centres on most inhabited islands for primary care and basic treatments
- Prescription medications: subsidised or free through public pharmacies
- Maternity care: fully covered under the public system
