Climate & Seasons
Morocco's geography creates dramatically different climates within a single country. The Atlantic coast is mild and breezy year-round. The Mediterranean north is classically Mediterranean. The interior (Marrakech, Meknes) is hot and dry in summer. The mountains are cold in winter (skiing possible). The Sahara is extreme.
- Atlantic coast (Casablanca, Agadir, Essaouira): mild year-round 15–28°C; humidity from ocean; Essaouira famously windy
- Marrakech: 30–40°C in July–August; beautiful April–May and September–October; cool January–February (10–16°C)
- Fez/Meknes: hot summers, cold winters — snow occasional in January; spring and autumn ideal
- Atlas Mountains: skiing in February (Oukaïmeden resort, 1 hr from Marrakech); hiking April–June and September–October
- Sahara (Merzouga/Zagora): extreme heat June–September (45°C+); magical November–February; star gazing world-class
- Rainy season: November–March on the Atlantic coast; short, Mediterranean-style
