Residency Options at a Glance
Honduras doesn't distinguish between long-term visas and permanent residency in the traditional sense โ as long as you continue to meet the conditions of your visa, you can remain indefinitely. The main pathways are the Rentista visa for those with passive income, the Pensionado visa for retirees, and employment-based options for entrepreneurs and workers.
- Visa-free entry: 90 days for citizens of the US, Canada, EU, UK, Australia, and many other countries
- 30-day extension available after the initial 90 days โ apply at immigration office
- Rentista Visa: for individuals with $2,500+/month in passive foreign income
- Pensionado Visa: for retirees with $1,500+/month in pension income, deposited in a local bank
- Employment/Business Visa: for entrepreneurs incorporating a Honduran business or employed by local companies
- All long-term visas are initially valid for 2 years and renewable indefinitely
- Permanent residency eligibility after 3 years of continuous legal residence
