International Schools in Costa Rica
Costa Rica has some of Latin America's best international schools — concentrated in the Central Valley (Escazú, Santa Ana, Heredia). Most expat families in these areas have excellent choices.
- Country Day School: US-curriculum, K-12, $15,000–$20,000/year — the flagship expat school in Escazú
- The Lincoln School: US curriculum, International Baccalaureate, $12,000–$18,000/year
- Colegio Monterrey: US curriculum, Guachipelín — $8,000–$12,000/year; solid reputation
- Blue Valley School: US curriculum and IB; $8,000–$15,000/year
- St. Francis de Sales: bilingual Spanish-English, Catholic values, $5,000–$9,000/year
- Waitlists: Country Day and Lincoln have waitlists — apply 6–12 months before intended enrollment
- Beach towns: Tamarindo and Jacó have local bilingual schools; no international schools comparable to Central Valley
