Outdoor Activities & Adventures
Mozambique is an outdoor paradise. The 2,500 km coastline offers everything from surfing and diving to sailing and deep-sea fishing. The marine biodiversity is exceptional — whale sharks, manta rays, humpback whales, and dugongs are regular sightings. On land, there are national parks, island-hopping adventures, and some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Africa.
- Diving: Tofo (whale sharks, mantas), Bazaruto Archipelago (coral reefs, dugongs), Quirimbas (pristine, remote)
- Snorkeling: accessible from most beach towns; Bazaruto islands are exceptional
- Surfing: Tofo Beach has consistent Indian Ocean swells; beginner to intermediate waves
- Deep-sea fishing: marlins, sailfish, wahoo — especially around Bazaruto and Vilankulo
- Sailing & dhow trips: traditional dhow sailboats available for island hopping and sunset cruises
- National parks: Gorongosa (the 'Serengeti of the south', revitalized wildlife), Bazaruto Marine Park
- Beach running & yoga: popular among Maputo expats along Costa do Sol and in coastal towns
